A Shut Up Comedy From Japan

Gamarjobat arrived on UK shores just over a decade ago, unknown inside and outside of Japan – a mime comedy act wanting to play the Edinburgh fringe. Five sell out Edinburgh runs later Gamarjobat had established themselves as world leaders in physical comedy.

Entertaining all ages from 3 to 93 year olds, equally at home performing street theatre and on stage to the most hard-core comedy clubs, Gamarjobat’s appeal could not be more universal. They have featured on ITV’s flagship entertainment show Tonight at the London Palladium and had two winning appearances on the BBC’s BAFTA award-winning The Slammer along with appearances on Blue Peter, The Paul O’Grady Show and Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks.

Their own BBC TV show Ketch & HIRO-PON Get It On, produced by Babycow and Komedia Entertainment, was screened in 2009 to great acclaim.

Gamarjobat have toured tirelessly worldwide, and have performed in over 40 countries, including a run on Broadway, New York. They have subsequently gained great success in Japan, regularly touring their live shows, becoming regulars on entertainment TV shows and they have formed their own theatre group, The Gamarjobat Project.

“This Japanese physical comedy duo are a cross between Laurel and Hardy and Madness. Kids and adults will love their breathtakingly brilliant slapstick clowning. I can’t wait to take my children, who will talk about this for the rest of their lives.” Stewart Lee, The Times, 26th July 2014
